PLC Mondays: High School Delayed Start

Starting Monday, August 19, Lake Hamilton High School will initiate a new start time each Monday to provide an opportunity for our teachers and administrators to engage in Professional Learning Communities.  The high school will begin the school day for students at 8:45 a.m. (second period).  Read below for some common frequently asked questions:

1. What time will school start?  School will begin at 8:45 a.m. for high school students (10 - 12th grade) on Mondays (except for students at National Park College Technical Center 1st block, high school students that attend junior high classes 1st period, or 1st period high school band students).

2. I drop my student off for school each morning, is early drop off still available?  Yes, you can still drop your students off starting at 7:25 a.m. 

3. Will this extend the school day on Mondays?  No.

4. Will breakfast still be served on Mondays?  Yes. 

5. When will buses run? School buses will run on their regular daily schedule.

6. What about my student with severe and profound needs?  The staff that are familiar with your students' needs will assist them in their familiar setting.

7. What will my student be doing if they have to be at school for first period while the staff is meeting?  Students will have access to study hall.

8. What if my student attends National Park College Technical Center, has a junior high class, or is in the band 1st period?  All NPTC, junior high class, and band students should arrive at the normal school time for those classes.
